Let's get started...

Start with a name for your group, and the app will instantly produce a new QR code for the group. Everyone who scans the QR code on the originator’s phone is automatically invited into the group. One click later, and you can be in the group and talking. Alternatively, for larger events or groups, the QR can be printed out and displayed on a poster or sign. If that isn’t possible, an invite can even be sent over text or email.

Get organized!

A user may have a number of talk groups on their phone at the same time. These can be used for different things – a group ride, a family outing etc, and can be added to and removed at any time. They can even be timed to only be active during an event. Although GroupChatz was designed for use at single-day events, a chat can stay active for up to a week. Just remember, GroupChatz is not a replacement for a phone, and doesn’t have a ring tone!

It's good to talk…

Simple and natural communication is at the heart of what GroupChatz is all about, so, unlike phones, it’s very easy to have more than two people in a group, and unlike walkie-talkies, more than one user can speak at the same time. To prevent too much background noise, it uses a ‘Push to Talk’ (PTT) button on the phone. Whenever you press this button, your microphone is live.

Going further…

In some cases, such as being out on a bike ride, it is more convenient to use a headset than talk directly into the phone. GroupChatz works with the majority of Bluetooth headsets, and in some case, with Bluetooth ‘Talk’ buttons too. If you already have a Bluetooth headset with a mic, it is likely this can be used. Use of Bluetooth ‘Talk’ buttons is more complex, particularly as Apple devices are restrictive in this area. For Android users, many existing ‘media remote controllers’ can be used. If there is any doubt, compatible headset and ‘Talk’ buttons can be purchased on the GroupChatz website.
